Terms of Service
Effective May 17, 2026
By using Acharya you agree to these terms. They are written in plain English on purpose — read them, and if anything is unclear, write to hello@acharya.life.
What Acharya is
Acharya is a Vedic astrology application that casts a birth chart, runs interpretive readings against it, and returns insight. The readings are produced by a combination of a calibrated astrological engine and large language models, grounded in the corpus of classical Jyotish texts and the methodology of practicing Jyotishis.
What Acharya is not
- Acharya is not a medical, legal, financial, or psychological professional. Readings discuss patterns and possibilities — they do not diagnose, prescribe, or advise on matters that require a licensed expert.
- Acharya does not predict the future with certainty. Confidence scores in the Ledger reflect a reading's internal classical strength; they are not probabilities of real‑world outcomes.
- Acharya is not a substitute for human judgement on consequential decisions — marriage, career, health, finance. We provide perspective, not verdicts.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Adults may add charts of family members, including children, to their own family graph; the adult is responsible for those entries.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign‑in credentials secure. If you suspect unauthorized access, email hello@acharya.life.
Subscriptions and billing
Acharya offers a free tier, a Solo subscription, a Family subscription, and a Heritage subscription. Pricing is displayed in the app. Subscriptions auto‑renew through the App Store unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, as governed by Apple's standard subscription terms. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.
Acceptable use
Don't use Acharya to harass, defame, or otherwise harm another person — including by adding their birth chart without their knowledge in a manner that would be invasive. Don't scrape the service, reverse‑engineer the engine, or attempt to extract verbatim training data from the underlying models.
Intellectual property
The Acharya brand, app design, prediction engine, calibration methodology, and rule library are owned by Acharya. The classical Sanskrit texts cited (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Saravali, Jaimini Sutra, Brihat Jataka, Phaladeepika, and others) are in the public domain; our translations and structured rule extractions are our work.
Readings produced for you are yours — you may share them however you like. Sharing the app's source code, internal prompts, or rule library is not permitted.
Disclaimer of warranties
Acharya is provided "as is." We work hard to make readings accurate and the service reliable, but we make no guarantees about uptime, accuracy of predictions, or fitness for any particular life decision.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Acharya's total liability for any claim arising out of your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or US $100, whichever is greater. Acharya is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict‑of‑laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of San Francisco County.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll surface it inside the app and email you. Continued use of Acharya after a change constitutes acceptance.
